Joel S. Hanania, PhD, is a pediatric psychologist specializing in autism diagnosis. His child-centered approach to patient care provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children with a wide variety of developmental and learning challenges. "I thoroughly enjoy interacting (playing, really) with young children and assisting parents on their journey with their child," Dr. Hanania says.

Dr. Hanania credits a high school psychology teacher for sparking his life-long interest in psychology. His focus turned to child development and learning during college. An internship with a school for children with autism led him to choose pediatric care. He says being part of the Phoenix Children's team gives him "the opportunity to provide desperately needed services to those who need it most."

When he's not working, Dr. Hanania enjoys listening to music and collecting old records. He also enjoys hiking local trails, reading about history and working crossword puzzles.
