Institutional Biosafety Committee

Research Institute

Phoenix Children’s Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is a federally required panel for the review and approval of all research activities involving recombinant biological materials. IBCs are mandated and regulated by the National Institutes of Health Office of Science Policy and subject to the requirements set forth in the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules.

The committee is comprised of representatives of the Phoenix Children's research community, staff and two community members otherwise unaffiliated with Phoenix Children's. The IBC membership represents collective expertise and research experience in recombinant DNA, infectious agents, toxins and biological safety.

Our IBC meets several times per year on an as-needed basis.
