Telehealth for Endocrinology in a Post-COVID-19 World

COVID-19 has certainly changed the way business is being conducted but one industry hit especially hard was healthcare, hospitals in particular. It was obvious telemedicine had to be implemented immediately but that’s easier said than done. However, Phoenix Children's was able to quickly develop a digital dashboard allowing our clinicians, administrators and schedulers to transition 6,000 weekly appointments from in-person to telemedicine. One of the key areas to benefit from that rapid response was our Endocrinology Department. Endocrine Today recently interviewed our own Division Chief of Endocrinology, Dr. Chirag Kapadia about how Phoenix Children’s adoption of telehealth has helped him and his staff in finding new ways to support families with diabetes who rely on data-driven care and require multiple in-person visits each year.
