Stressed? Feeling Burned Out and Exhausted? Helpful Tips from a Neurosurgeon

Is stress getting the better of you? Do you find yourself wondering how to tell the difference between exhaustion and being burnt out? Or what balance looks like and how you can achieve it?

Dr. Anthony Avellino, renowned neurosurgeon and author of Finding Purpose: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey of Hope and Healing, shared his personal journey wrestling with these concerns with David Adelson, MD, chief of pediatric neurosurgery and director of the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s, and other providers at a recent grand rounds. He also shared his insights into how to come to a place of healing and strength – and we’d like to share them with you!

Join our team for grand rounds by watching the video below and learn from Dr. Avellino how to:

  • Effectively maintain performance, both mental and physical, in a high functioning and stressful environment
  • Differentiate between endurance and burnout
  • Achieve better work-life balance and lead a healthier, peaceful, and purposeful life

Let’s face it – if a neurosurgeon can experience feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy, so can the rest of us. The good news is that none of us must stay there. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Avellino for sharing his approach to restoring mind, body and spirit.
