Early Access to Care - Arizona

The Early Access to Care – Arizona (EAC-AZ) program was established as an innovative, community-based identification, screening, and treatment model for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  The program offers a comprehensive training curriculum to primary care providers on the identification and diagnosis of ASD, with aims to increase their competence and confidence in diagnosing and treating the unique needs of children with ASD.

The primary goal of the EAC-AZ program is to decrease time between parent concern and time of diagnosis through training primary care practitioners to provide diagnosis and comprehensive care to children with ASD. To achieve this, Phoenix Children's Hospital and the Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) have partnered to certify EAC-AZ graduates in the diagnosis and treatment of ASD. This will expand the availability of diagnosis and provision of interventions to areas that are underserved and allows for earlier intervention, and thus improved outcomes, in the lives of children with ASD.
