Pediatric nurse practitioner Cecilia Avalos, PNP, started her medical career as a nurse. She was drawn to the diversity of the work, and also to serving children.
Pediatrics was my favorite rotation during nursing school," she remembers. Cecilia credits her time as a bedside nurse with helping her become a better provider.
She earned her Master of Science in Parent-Child Nursing from Arizona State University.
She cares for every patient as if they were family. Leveraging her meticulous attention to detail, Cecilia meets her patients' diverse needs as they grow from infants into young adults.
Cecilia appreciates the reputation, recognition and continual efforts to improve that Phoenix Children's brings to patient care. "It's a career I love and am extremely proud of," she says.
In her free time, Cecilia turns her focus to self-improvement -- she's relearning the violin. And as a language lover, already fluent in Spanish, Cecilia also studies French, with plans to learn Italian and Portuguese.
