Lyndy Jones, MD

Co-Medical Director, Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics

A lifelong Disney and Star Wars fan, Lyndy Jones, MD, says choosing a career as a pediatrician was a natural fit. She loves being part of children’s lives as they grow, hearing about their interests and eventually their passions as young adults.

Dr. Jones attended medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. She completed her residency at Phoenix Children's and has been in practice for over 30 years. She has a special interest in asthma care and early childhood brain development.

“My goal is to be a resource for families by providing the best healthcare to help children become happy, healthy, contributing members of society,” Dr. Jones says.

Outside of work, Dr. Jones loves spending time with her family. A singer, she participates in her church choir. She also enjoys travel, theater, good food and good books.

Venkata Konanki, MD

Pediatrician Venkata Konanki, MD, grew up in India. Dr. Konanki’s father, proud that his son graduated as a high school valedictorian, encouraged him to pursue a medical career.

After earning his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, Dr. Konanki received pediatrics training in the United Kingdom. He completed his pediatrics residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Prior to joining Phoenix Children’s in June 2020, he practiced both outpatient and inpatient pediatrics in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, for 10 years.

Dr. Konanki is grateful to be part of the Phoenix Children’s team, working closely with pediatric specialists to treat children with chronic or serious illnesses. He enjoys watching his patients grow and develop from birth to adulthood, and he is particularly interested in dermatology, behavioral health and prevention of obesity.

An avid reader of nonfiction books, Dr. Konanki also enjoys listening to podcasts on social and behavioral psychology. He and his wife, Geetha, have two daughters, Sindhu and Shriya.

Suvarna Ashish Mogal, MD

Suvarna Ashish Mogal, MD, loves getting to know her young patients and their families. As a general pediatrician, she provides child-centered and family-focused care.

Dr. Mogal attended medical school at Grant Medical College in Mumbai, India. She completed her residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

A member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Mogal enjoys working at Phoenix Children’s. The focus on excellent, collaborative and specialized pediatric care aligns perfectly with her own career goals.

“I place a high value on listening to my patients’ concerns and providing compassionate care,” Dr. Mogal says. “I love the smile and innocence of kids. Being a mom of two, I could never stand to see any child or parent in pain or suffering. My empathy for human emotions and suffering inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.”

Outside of work, Dr. Mogal enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Amy Shoptaugh, MD

As the youngest of 10 children, pediatrician Amy Shoptaugh, MD, has always enjoyed being around kids. When it came time to choose a career path, she followed in the footsteps of her father, a pediatrician, and her brother, a neonatologist.

A graduate of Arizona State University and the University of Colorado Health Science Center, Dr. Shoptaugh completed her residency at Phoenix Children’s. She founded All About Kids Pediatrics in 1998 and practiced there until joining Phoenix Children’s in 2020.

Dr. Shoptaugh believes it’s important to address the whole person — mind, body and spirit —along with the social, environmental and biological factors that affect health and well-being. Her specialty areas include adverse childhood experiences, integrative health and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Outside of work, Dr. Shoptaugh enjoys spending time with her spouse and her dogs. An avid reader, she also enjoys traveling to new places. She loves exercising and spending time outdoors enjoying nature or working on her yard.
