Meghan E. Hunter, DO

Indiana native Meghan E. Hunter, DO, earned her medical degree at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Hunter felt a sense of home when she joined Phoenix Children's Pediatrics. She appreciates being part of a supportive community where she can provide evidence-based, individualized patient care. "My goal is to provide my patients and their families the highest-quality care and serve as a role model for kids in the community," Dr. Hunter says.

Dr. Hunter enjoys providing pediatric care to children of all ages. She has special interest in

newborn health, breastfeeding medicine, asthma education and childhood obesity.

When she's not working, Dr. Hunter values spending time with her family, friends and cat, Luna. She loves doing home projects, being outdoors and traveling.

Michael A. Perlstein, MD

Pediatrician Michael A. Perlstein, MD, realized he enjoyed guiding and mentoring children while working as a summer camp counselor as a teen. His father, a cardiologist, inspired his career in medicine. He observed that despite his dad working long and demanding shifts, he had an unwavering love of his work.

Dr. Perlstein received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He completed his residency at the University of Minnesota.

With Phoenix Children's, he found an organization that matched his goals in providing complete care for children. He serves as a physician lead in the Phoenix Children’s outpatient program and has served 10 years on the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics board.

Working closely with the families, he hopes to help shape a child's development, instilling a strong sense of self-confidence and self-esteem.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Perlstein loves spending time with his wife, three kids and multiple pets, and coaching soccer. He also has a passion for movies.

Jessica Prescott, MD

Growing up, Phoenix native Jessica Prescott, MD, was fascinated by science and figuring out how things worked. Then, as a hospital volunteer, she saw how a career in medicine would allow her to put those interests to work. She's honored to help keep children healthy like her own pediatricians did when she was growing up.

Dr. Prescott earned her medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California. She completed her pediatric residency with Phoenix Children's.

Dr. Prescott cares for infants, kids and teens, providing families with evidence-based recommendations and information. She has a special interest in adolescent health and strives to empower teens to advocate for themselves, make informed choices and develop healthy habits that stick.

When she's not working, the former high school lacrosse state champion likes being active with hiking, running, cycling, yoga and team sports. She also loves exploring restaurants and coffee shops with her husband and their corgi pup.

Darcey Winterland, MD

Co-Medical Director, Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics

Pediatrician Darcey Winterland, MD, credits her mother, who worked in oncology and preventive healthcare for nearly 50 years, as her inspiration for the doctor she is today.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson and her residency at Phoenix Children’s.

Dr. Winterland loves seeing patients take pride in their health and feel confident about achieving and maintaining overall wellness. She appreciates how Phoenix Children's honors the spirit of the children they care for.

"I get to be the pediatrician who can take time to get on the floor with her patients to play," she says. "Phoenix Children’s allow us to be human and remember who we are as people."

Her greatest joys are her husband, three children and every minute they spend together. As a sports lover, Dr. Winterland always has a team to cheer on, whether it's her daughter's softball team, or her beloved Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears or Arizona Wildcats. She also likes to cook, hike, travel, watch movies, read, garden and spend time with friends.
