Outpatient Programs and Services

Psychiatry

It can be hard to know when your child needs treatment for a psychiatric condition or where to go for help.

At Phoenix Children’s, we offer collaborative care to help your child wherever they are. Our services include psychiatric evaluations, outpatient counseling and inpatient care, including an inpatient psychiatry unit for children. The first step is asking for help.

Understanding Your Child’s Needs

When we first meet with your child, family or care team, we spend the time listening and learning. We want to understand the challenges your child may be facing and the emotions, thoughts or behaviors they are exhibiting, so that we can see your child as a whole person.

During our comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, we’ll ask about your child’s:

  • Behaviors
  • Symptoms
  • Personal and family medical history
  • Results from lab, imaging or medical evaluations

Once we have a clear picture of the past, we can recommend the treatment that is best for your child.

Collaborative Outpatient Counseling

Managing and treating a psychiatric condition is no different than treating a chronic medical condition: It calls for a robust, collaborative approach to care. Your child and family may benefit from regular outpatient care. This may include medication management, family-based interventions and individual therapy.

Ask your child’s provider for a referral.
