We want patient families to find the best and easiest way to get to us. As expansion projects continue on Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus, a temporary road closure on our campus is necessary to support construction work. In addition, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has an upcoming pavement improvement project impacting State Route 51 between I-10 and Colter Street, which may affect families traveling to Phoenix Children’s.
Road closure at Phoenix Children’s
Beginning June 5, 2023, Ed Pastor Way – located on the west side of campus between the visitor parking garage and the in-progress office building – will be temporarily closed. The closure is expected to last six weeks.
You can easily access Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus from:
- Thomas Road, or
- 16th Street to Cambridge Avenue, or
- 20th Street to Cambridge Avenue
Patient families needing to access the Emergency Department should park in the visitor garage on Thomas Road and follow the signage to the pedestrian entrance to the ED. This entrance will remain open to foot traffic during the temporary road closure.
Security Services will have team members present to help direct patients. Emergency medical service (EMS) partners have been advised on alternate routes to the ambulance bay.
ADOT work
ADOT will be conducting a pavement improvement project on northbound SR51. The project will involve weekend closures Friday night through Monday morning on northbound SR51 from I-10 to Colter Street, as well as intermittent weekday overnight lane restrictions.
