Kip Welch, Vice President, Talent Acquisition at Phoenix Children's, brings more than 25 years of experience in the Human Resources field with an expertise in talent acquisition and recruiting.

As Vice President of Talent Acquisition, Welch develops and implements strategic and tactical plans for talent acquisition, ensuring coordination across all areas including physician, leadership and general recruitment. He also designs, improves and monitors recruitment work flows to ensure processes and performances are effective and efficient.

Welch joined Phoenix Children’s from Texas, where he served as the Talent Acquisition Manager at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company. While in this role, he initiated a talent acquisition strategy from scratch. This included website optimization, a mobile apply functionality to increase talent reach and a total redesign of the company’s college recruiting program.

Previously, Welch was the Director of Recruitment at Chesapeake Energy Corporation, the second-largest producer of natural gas in the U.S. As the company grew from 6,000 to 13,000 employees during his tenure, Welch implemented a military recruiting initiative that resulted in an average of 750 veteran hires per year, led the recruiting team to hire 4,000-plus employees each year and reduced the budget by 30 percent. He also participated in the implementation of an applicant tracking system and spearheaded projects including creating a mobile apply tool and a company-only targeted career fair strategy that has yielded over 100 hires at a single event. He was recognized by Talent Board as recipient of the 2013 Candidate Experience Awards for improving applicant experience.

Welch earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts/speech communication at Hendrix College.
