PHOENIX [December 26, 2025] – Each year, Phoenix Children’s updates its visitor and masking protocols during cold and flu season based on guidance from its infectious diseases team and public health officials.

Effective Dec. 26, 2025, the health system is making changes to its visitor and masking protocols to protect the health of patients, families and staff.

Here’s an overview of what to expect:

  • Clinicians will wear masks when providing direct patient care.
  • Families and visitors will be asked to mask if they are experiencing cold and flu symptoms.
  • Only visitors 12 and older will be allowed to visit patients admitted to the hospital; this includes siblings.
  • Exceptions can be made for breastfeeding infants and end-of-life situations.

These policies are designed to protect our patients’ health, safety, rights and privacy, and help limit the spread of respiratory viruses like the flu, RSV and COVID-19. The goal is to enable caregivers and visitors to support the healing process while allowing our healthcare team to provide the highest quality patient care.

Thank you for your help as we work together to keep our patients, family and staff safe. For more information, please visit phoenixchildrens.org/visitors. Phoenix Children’s will continue to review public health guidance and adjust its protocol accordingly.
