Phoenix Children’s Hospital is proud to announce the organization is again ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals, this year in 10 out of 10 specialties.
U.S. News & World Report’s national publication ranks children’s hospitals annually for their clinical expertise and patient outcomes in 10 medical specialties (listed below). This is the eighth consecutive year Phoenix Children’s is named as a Best Children’s Hospital, and the second time Phoenix Children's ranked in all 10 categories. From last year’s results, the Hospital saw improvement and a higher ranking in each specialty area surveyed.
These rankings help guide families to make the best medical care decisions for their children. Families can look up detailed information about each hospital for free here.

Phoenix Children’s is one of only 23 children’s hospitals in the United States to make the list in all ten specialties in 2018-19.
“Staff at Phoenix Children’s are committed to challenging themselves to do better every day,” said Robert L. Meyer, President and CEO of Phoenix Children’s. “We are honored and humbled that U.S. News & World Report recognizes this dedication to improving children’s health. Our efforts to innovate and change quality standards continue to advance our clinical outcomes and we know this reflected in this year’s 10 out of 10 ranking.”
The majority of each hospital’s score reflects patient outcomes and the care-related resources each hospital makes available. To gather clinical data, U.S. News sends a clinical questionnaire to 189 pediatric hospitals. A reputation score, representing a smaller percentage of the score, is derived from a survey of pediatric specialists and subspecialists in each specialty asking where they would send the sickest children in their specialty, setting aside location and expense.
Survival rates, nurse staffing, procedural volume and much more can be viewed here and will be published in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2019” guidebook in September.
