About Alexandra K. Wood, PNP

Alexandra Ryan, DNP, PNP-PC, is a pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in pain management.

Alexandra found she was drawn to the culture at Phoenix Children's. She enjoys the family feeling amongst the staff and is proud of the exceptional care given to every patient.

Alexandra majored in biology at Xavier University in Ohio and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Texas. She continued her education at Arizona State University, where she earned her Doctor of Nursing degree with special certification in pediatric primary care.

In addition to her practice, Alexandra is an adjunct professor at Creighton University in the College of Nursing as well as at Grand Canyon University in the College of Nursing and Health Care Professionals.

Volunteering at a children's hospital during high school triggered Alexandra's interest in the field of medicine. She first thought she wanted to become a physician, but once she learned the theory behind nursing and its holistic approach to treating the whole person, she knew that becoming a nurse practitioner was the right path for her.

When treating patients, she aims to understand the person as a whole and form a partnership, so together, they can create the most effective plan of care. She believes that movement and overall wellness are integral parts of treating ailments.

Outside her practice, Alexandra maintains an active lifestyle. She loves to travel and try new foods, exercise daily and ski whenever she gets the chance. She also enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their dog, Lucy.

Lexa was great. She explained recommended next steps in a kind and empathetic way. Instead of saying there is nothing else we can do for you, she provided an option that we have been thinking about and gave us the push we needed to go forward. Extremely professional and kind!

Lexi woods is a wonderful provider, she listened to all of my questions answered them with easy to understand knowledge. She did everything she said she was going to by sending prescription refills and referrals. She is a wonderful provider! We will miss her when my daughter turns 18!!

We are very happy with Lexa Wood. Thank you.
