About Ali McMichael, MD

Ali McMichael, MD, is a pediatric critical care physician at Phoenix Children's. Dr. McMichael has specialized training in treating children and teens in the intensive care unit who have critical medical conditions.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree from Pepperdine College in Malibu, California, Dr. McMichael earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She completed her residency training in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. McMichael is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, as well as the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society. Dedicated to the care and safety of patients, Dr. McMichael is an active member of national and international medical collaboratives.

As a primary author of the 2021 Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) ECMO Anticoagulation Guidelines, Dr. McMichael has presented at the ELSO National Meeting, as well as for webinars hosted by PediECMO and BloodNET/THOR. She has published research on the topic in peer-reviewed publications including the journal Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. McMichael enjoys hiking, finding and baking new recipes and being with her family and dogs.
