About Amy A. Ashburn, DNP
Amy Ashburn, DNP, FNP-BC, is a family nurse practitioner, associate director of advanced clinical practice, and lead advanced practice provider for the Division of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at Phoenix Children's. She specializes in the care of infants, children and adolescents with disorders of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck.Amy has particular clinical expertise in the management of complex airway disorders and the comprehensive care of children with tracheostomies. She is committed to delivering compassionate, family-centered care and helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Arizona. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Since 2010, Amy has practiced in pediatric otolaryngology and head & neck surgery. Her previous nursing experience includes pediatric intensive care and pediatric hematology/oncology. She is actively involved in advancing the field through research, publications, presentations and invited lectures at regional and national conferences. In recognition of her contributions to patient care and clinical excellence, she was once named Phoenix Children's Advanced Practice Provider of the Year.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Amy serves as an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. She is vice president and a member of the board of directors for the Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the Society for Ear, Nose, and Throat Advances in Children.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading and watching sports.
