About Cesar F. Astudillo, MD

Cesar Astudillo, MD, is a pediatric rehabilitation specialist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Astudillo is a specialist in acute care rehabilitation, critical care rehabilitation, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, acquired brain injury rehabilitation and chemo-denervation injections to treat spasticity.

Dr. Astudillo earned his medical degree cum laude from the Universidad Catolica de Santiago de Guayaquil Medical School in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He completed his internship training in internal medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals in the Bronx, New York, and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Astudillo trained as a fellow in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Committed to clinical research, Dr. Astudillo has presented his findings at the International Stroke Conference and the Annual World Congresses of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine held in Portugal and Australia. He has published research in peer-reviewed publications including Stroke, the Journal of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and British Medical Journal Open, in addition to the online resource PM&R Knowledge NOW.

Dr. Astudillo is a meritorious member of the Guayas Chapter of the Ecuadorian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, as well as a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatrists, the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and the American Medical Association.

In his free time, Dr. Astudillo enjoys exploring Arizona, international travel, cooking and hiking.
