About Cheryl A. Wieweck, NNP
As a nursing student, Cheryl Wieweck, NNP, worked as an emergency medical technician. During one shift, she helped transport a premature infant from one hospital to another for higher-level care. The experience shaped her career."I remember looking at that tiny little baby in that huge transport unit and being in awe that medicine could offer it hope of a future," Cheryl says. "I realized that was where I wanted to practice." She studied and trained to become a neonatal nurse practitioner. For Cheryl, the care she provides extends beyond the baby in the neonatal intensive care unit. "There is a family that needs my care and interest as well," Cheryl says. "My goal is to respect the family's wishes and hopes while I care for their infant."She is most passionate about education and learning. She enjoys sharing her experiences with new nurses and new parents so they can learn about caring for premature or critically ill newborns. "We can all learn something every day," Cheryl says. "I love when I can learn something new and put it into practice and continue improving as a nurse practitioner." Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys reading, do-it-yourself projects, running and traveling.
