About Danielle K. Sebbens, PNP
Dani K. Sebbens, PNP-PC/AC, is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Phoenix Children's. Dani provides intensive, specialized care for critically ill and medically complex infants, children and adolescents with life-threatening conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, traumatic injuries, neurological emergencies and multi-organ dysfunction. She has a special interest in treating sepsis.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Dani earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. She earned her post-graduate certificate as an acute care PNP at Rush University in Chicago, IL. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
Her experience includes caring for children with complex gastrointestinal disorders and short bowel syndrome who required intestinal rehabilitation and long-term nutritional support. This specialized training strengthened her ability to manage medically complex patients while collaborating closely with interprofessional teams to optimize outcomes and improve quality of life.
Dani's scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters and national presentations that reflect a commitment to advancing both clinical practice and nursing education. Her research and lectures cover topics including pediatric critical care, pediatric gastroenterology and intestinal failure, in addition to nurse practitioner education, simulation and innovative teaching strategies.
A mentor to the next generation of pediatric nurse practitioners, Dani is the recipient of a Health Resources and Services Administration Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW) grant to train and support advanced practice nurses while working in underserved communities. As a recognized leader in pediatric nursing, Dani serves as assistant dean for practice and clinical education at Arizona State University. She also holds national leadership roles with the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
With an appreciation of the teamwork, resilience and dedication that sports inspire, Dani spends her free time cheering on the professional and college teams of her hometown of Pittsburgh. She also enjoys staying engaged in national efforts to advance pediatric critical care, nurse practitioner education and clinical practice.
