About Gary E. Kirkilas, DO

Gary Kirkilas, II, DO, is a pediatric and adolescent medicine physician at Phoenix Children's. He is actively involved in homeless youth outreach and delivers respectful, compassionate and holistic medical care to vulnerable populations. Dr. Kirkilas is dedicated to positively impacting young people experiencing homelessness and helping prevent teen substance use.

Dr. Kirkilas received his bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago and earned his degree in osteopathic medicine from Touro University California in Vallejo, California. He completed his residency training in pediatrics at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. Dr. Kirkilas is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in general pediatrics, the Osteopathic Medical Board of California and the Arizona Osteopathic Board. The Arizona Medical Association also recognized Dr. Kirkilas as Physician Advocate of the Year in 2025.

Dr. Kirkilas has presented at numerous symposia and events hosted by organizations including the Arizona Drug Summit, the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association, the Arizona chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of Attorneys General. In addition, he serves on the board of directors for Child Family Health International and is a member of and spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics' committees on substance abuse and advocacy.

In his free time, Dr. Kirkilas enjoys playing the guitar and piano, as well as hiking, surfing, and participating in triathlons. He has four (sometimes) wonderful children and four cats.
