About Gwen M. Grimsby, MD

Gwen Grimsby, MD, became the first female pediatric urologist in the state of Arizona when she joined Phoenix Children's division of Urology in 2015. In her role, she is responsible for treating patients with a wide variety of urologic conditions.

Dr. Grimsby graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Following graduation, she completed a urology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Ariz. and her pediatric urology fellowship at Children's Medical Center/University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Grimsby is board certified in urology. She is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Urologic Association, Society of Pediatric Urology and Society of Women in Urology. She has given a myriad of presentations on urological conditions and treatments, as well as published multiple articles and a book chapter related to her field.

Dr. Grimsby's special interests include robotic surgery, neurogenic bladder and disorders of sexual differentiation. In addition to her role in the division of Urology, Dr. Grimsby is a part of the Reproductive Anomalies Clinic at Phoenix Children's and participates in teaching urology residents from Mayo Clinic Arizona, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and Creighton University. She participates in a monthly multidisciplinary clinic for patients with disorders of sexual differentiation and created a dedicated urology Transitional Clinic for patients over 16 with complex congenital urologic conditions.

Dr. Grimsby has been married for almost 11 years and has three dogs. In her free time, Dr. Grimsby enjoys traveling with her husband, running half marathons, camping and hiking, reading and watching Arizona Cardinals football. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with her patients. She enjoys working at Phoenix Children's because of the collaboration between departments and the passion everyone has to provide the best care possible for patients.
