About Harris Khawaja, DO

As a neonatologist, Harris Khawaja, DO, cares for babies born prematurely or with a serious injury, illness or birth defect.

Born and raised in the "Valley of the Sun," Dr. Khawaja was happy to come home to Phoenix's desert sunsets and landscapes after medical training. Giving premature babies and their families the gift of life inspires him every day.

Dr. Khawaja earned his medical degree at the Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a pediatric residency at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine and completed a neonatal-perinatal fellowship at the University of Chicago School of Medicine in 2023. Dr. Khawaja is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He's also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Khawaja contributes to his field through research. He's published in peer-reviewed journals and has given presentations at professional meetings and conferences.

Dr. Khawaja recognizes that he's not caring only for the babies who need intensive care. Dr. Khawaja cares for their families, too, through the ups and downs of emotions and treatments.

When he's not working, Dr. Khawaja enjoys golfing, hiking, spending time with his dogs, and volunteering at local animal shelters. Dr. Khawaja is also an avid fan of Phoenix-area sports teams.
