About Jay Rakkar, MD
Jay Rakkar, MD, is a pediatric intensivist specializing in caring for critically ill children.
The opportunity to care for children led Dr. Rakkar to medicine. The people and culture at Phoenix Children's, and the location inspired him to make Phoenix his home.
Dr. Rakkar earned his bachelor's degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology and his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. After completing his pediatrics residency at Phoenix Children's, he completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Rakkar also completed training in pediatric neuro-intensive care and resuscitation research at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Rakkar's interests include data science research with a focus on brain injury. He's published in professional journals and has presented at numerous national and regional conferences. He's a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the National Neurotrauma Society.
When he's not working, Dr. Rakkar enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports.
