About Jeffrey A. Hotz, MD
Jeffrey Hotz, MD, is a pediatric anesthesiologist. Also specializing in pain management, he was the co-creator of the Pediatric Pain Management Program at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Hotz also works as a clinical associate professor of anesthesiology with the University of Arizona College of Medicine and an instructor of anesthesiology with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Dr. Hotz was led to Phoenix Children's by the opportunity to provide quality care to patients in the greater Phoenix area. Inspired by his father who was a practicing pediatrician until the age of 91, Dr. Hotz joins top physicians interested in advancing the field of anesthesiology to enhance patient comfort and improve each child's quality of life.
After earning his medical degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Dr. Hotz completed an anesthesiology residency at the University of Toronto. He then completed a pediatric critical care fellowship at the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Dr. Hotz is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists. He's also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Canada's Royal College of Physicians. Dr. Hotz is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society and the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiology.
Knowing the importance of research in advancing his field, Dr. Hotz has studied ways to reduce pain after surgery for children. He also has studied techniques to reduce anxiety before surgery. Dr. Hotz is committed to providing patients and their families compassionate, evidence-based care. In addition, he makes education, support, and encouragement a priority.
When he's not working, Dr. Hotz is dedicated to spending time with his family.
