About Jeffrey W. Hanson, MD
Jeff Hanson, MD, is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist and the Director of Cardiac Anesthesia and Co-Director of the Center for Heart Care at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Hanson provides highly specialized perioperative care for neonates, infants and children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease. He also supports high-risk cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology procedures and other advanced cardiac treatments.
As director of the cardiac anesthesia program, Dr. Hanson leads with a focus on clinical excellence, safety and reliability in high-acuity care. He collaborates with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, cardiac intensivists, perfusionists and perioperative surgical teams to develop thoughtful care plans, optimize care delivery and improve outcomes for children with heart disease.
Committed to education and mentorship, Dr Hanson plays an active role in training fellows, residents and junior faculty. He emphasizes hands-on teaching and preparing clinicians to confidently manage complex pediatric cardiac patients.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Hanson enjoys spending time with his family. They like to travel, camp, hike, play basketball and simply relax together at home.
