I enjoy working in neonatology because it allows me to care for an entire family. I am constantly reminded of how worthwhile my role is and how important it is to provide hope and faith for my patients and their families, even when times are difficult.

About Jessica L. Wickland, MD

Jessica Wickland, MD, is a neonatologist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Wickland cares for infants who need specialized care in the neonatal intensive care unit. She practices medicine with a special focus on quality improvement.

Dr. Wickland earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in Los Angeles before graduating with her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at Phoenix Children's and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, and she completed a fellowship in neonatal and perinatal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Wickland works to train the next generation of physicians as the associate program director for the Phoenix Children's Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship program. She also serves as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix and is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Creighton University School of Medicine in Phoenix.

Dr. Wickland is certified in general pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Neonatal Perinatal Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Wickland enjoys swimming, hiking and volunteering at a local food bank.
