About John H. Boden, MD
John Boden, MD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Boden has specialized training in the treatment of a wide range of eye conditions affecting children, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, crossed eyes (strabismus) and double vision.
After serving in the United States Army for 24 years, Dr. Boden decided to hang up his military uniform and join the Phoenix Children's team. He enjoys collaborating with his Phoenix Children's colleagues, caring for his patients and serving the local community.
Dr. Boden graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, before earning his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.
Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Boden is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He was drawn to a career in medicine because of his desire to help and serve others. Dr. Boden strives to treat every patient as if they were a member of his own family.
When not treating patients, Dr. Boden enjoys spending time with his family, running and hiking.

Dr. Boden and my sons nurse were so great with my son with ASD. Dr. Boden made the exam like a game and my son was grinning EAR TO EAR during the entire process. His nurse was so gentle and understanding of his boundaries even when putting the dilation drops I'm my sons eyes. Can't say enough good things!!

Dr Boden was amazing! We took our daughter in for eye pain around a birthmark she has on her eye. he was able to find a foreign body stuck under her eyelid. It was a quick fix. He took measurements of her birthmark to make sure it wasnt growing and asked us back in 6 months. Just the thoroughness alone is a 5 star provider!

Very awesome staff! Very caring and friendly. I was late to my son's appointment because of traffic delays. We live almost 3 hours away and I would have been devastated if they turned us down but they got him in right away and still were willing to see my son for his appointment and was very patient and understanding .
We drive down from Kingman because we have always been impressed with the care we receive here!

Dr. Boden called me when I was having issues with my son after surgery and even tho it was all normal he talked me through it no matter what time it was at night and I truly appreciate that. He is definitely great!
