About Jordan D. Awerbach, MD, MPH

Jordan D. Awerbach, MD, MPH, FACC, is a cardiologist specialized in treating pediatric and adult congenital heart disease, cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, and pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Awerbach is the medical director of the Stephen C. Grout Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program at Phoenix Children's.

After graduating with two undergraduate degrees from Boston University in Boston, Dr. Awerbach earned a medical degree and master's in public health in epidemiology from Tulane University Schools of Medicine and of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He then pursued additional subspecialty fellowship training and was the Thomas Anstrom Fellow in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Awerbach is certified in internal medicine and adult congenital heart disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also is certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Awerbach is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and serves on several working committees within the College. He is also a member of the Adult Congenital Heart Association, American Heart Association, Pulmonary Hypertension Association and Society of Cardiac MRI.

In 2023, he was selected for the American College of Cardiology Emerging Faculty Leadership Academy, a prestigious program that supports early-career faculty identified as future leaders in the field. He is currently on the American College of Cardiology's Adult Congenital and Pediatric Cardiology Leadership Council and Chair of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Quality, Advocacy and Access to Care Task Force.

Dr. Awerbach has presented at numerous national and international professional conferences, including the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions, the World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant Annual Meeting, and the National Conference of the Adult Congenital Heart Association. He contributes to furthering his field through clinical research, extensive publishing of articles and authoring medical book chapters.

Dr. Awerbach enjoys spending his free time with his family and pets. They enjoy exploring outdoors and experiencing great restaurants in Phoenix.
