About Katy L. Mullens, MD, FAAP

Katy L. Mullens, MD, FAAP, is a primary care pediatrician specializing in newborn and breastfeeding medicine and complex care. The opportunity to care for her patients' whole health - their medical and social-emotional needs - led her to primary care.

"It's an honor and privilege to be a child's primary care provider," Dr. Mullens says. "I find immense joy in being a small part of each child's journey to adulthood!"

As a biochemistry and molecular biophysics major in college, Dr. Mullens discovered she enjoyed applying her knowledge to patients rather than working in a laboratory.

She's a lifelong learner who provides patients with up-to-date and evidence-based care.

Dr. Mullens is also passionate about teaching the next generation of pediatricians, medical students and pediatric residents. They often join her during patient visits.

Dr. Mullens has called Arizona home all her life. She completed her residency training at Phoenix Children's and loved it so much that she stayed to serve her community.

When she's not working, Dr. Mullens loves spending time with her husband, daughter and extended family. She makes exercise a priority and enjoys hiking, cycling, swimming and running.
