About Lavi Nissim, MD

Dr. Lavi Nissim is a board-certified radiologist at Phoenix Children's who has subspecialty training in pediatric imaging and interventional radiology. A seasoned medical professional, Dr. Nissim's areas of expertise include trauma intervention, tumor embolization and ablation therapy, hepatobiliary therapy, coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography and interventional radiology education.

Dr. Nissim was drawn to Phoenix Children's culture of evidence-based medicine and desire to comfort patients and their families, as well as the collegial atmosphere. While days can be long and laboring, Dr. Nissim is driven by the desire to help children overcome challenging diseases and see them live happy and healthy lives.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he completed a residency in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Banner - University Medical Center in Tucson. Dr. Nissim continued his training with fellowships in Pediatric Body Imaging and Pediatric Interventional Radiology at Phoenix Children's.

He currently holds professional affiliations with the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American College of Radiology and the Society of Pediatric Radiology.

Dr. Nissim is dedicated to clinical education and research. He's a frequent speaker, blogger and medical writer and he serves as an assistant professor of radiology at the University of Arizona and volunteer faculty at the Mayo Clinic. His current research interests include pediatric intervention with cone-beam CT technology, image-guided interventions in infancy and 3D-volume organ imaging in pediatrics.

His clinical research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology and Academic Radiology.

In his spare time, Dr. Nissim enjoys keeping up with general medical literature, traveling and enjoying outdoor activities with his dentist wife and their two poodles. His patient care philosophy is "always do your best."
