About Mark I. Salevitz, MD

Mark Salevitz, MD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist and the division chief of ophthalmology at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Salevitz has extensive training in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions that affect children, as well as adult strabismus.

Raised in a family of physicians, Dr. Salevitz now has more than 25 years of experience treating children in the Phoenix area. He joined the Phoenix Children's team in 2016 to help establish the comprehensive ophthalmology program.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Dr. Salevitz earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in New York and his fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami in Florida.

Dr. Salevitz has been recognized as a Top Doc by Phoenix magazine and is frequently listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Salevitz is a member of the Arizona Ophthalmology Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. At Phoenix Children's, he also serves on the Governance Council and co-chairs our Program Development Committee.

In his free time, Dr. Salevitz enjoys painting and traveling.
