Mary Allare, MD, is a neonatologist at Phoenix Children's. With more than 35 years of experience in pediatrics and neonatal intensive care, Dr. Allare provides highly specialized treatments and services for an extensive range of conditions affecting newborn babies.

Dr. Allare was drawn to Phoenix Children's because of the organization's commitment to the developmental follow-up of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) graduates. She enjoys working with early intervention therapists in speech, occupational and physical therapy, as well as specialists who consult on unusual and complex cases.

After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, Dr. Allare earned her medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin, and her fellowship training in neonatology and perinatology at UC San Diego Medical Center in San Diego.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Infant Toddler Mental Health Coalition of Arizona.

An interest in science and a desire to help people led Dr. Allare to a career in medicine. From her earliest training, the cornerstone of Dr. Allare's medical practice has been that the patient is the family. In every setting, she seeks to support patients and their families as they work to help their children reach their full potential. In addition, Dr. Allare works to understand each patient and family's experiences and dynamics to provide culturally sensitive care.

In her free time, Dr. Allare enjoys traveling, working on international medical missions, mountain biking and hiking.
