About Maxwell B. Cainkar, DO
Maxwell B. Cainkar, DO, is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Phoenix Children's. In addition to anesthesia and sedation procedures, Dr. Cainkar is skilled in airway management and treatments for patients before, during and after surgery.
After earning his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Cainkar graduated with his degree in osteopathic medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He served as chief resident during his anesthesiology residency at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami. Dr. Cainkar then completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Children's Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado, where he served as chief fellow.
Dr. Cainkar is active in graduate medical education and is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He has presented educational material about neonatal resuscitation for the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia. Dr. Cainkar has also presented information on neonatal airway management to the pediatric anesthesiology department at the University of California. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society and the Society of Pediatric Pain Medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Cainkar enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with animals, as well as playing chess and video games.
