About Melissa S. Knight, MD
Melissa S. Knight, MD, is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Knight ensures that children of all ages, from birth to adolescence, are comfortable and safe before, during and after surgery or other medical procedures.
Dr. Knight enjoys practicing anesthesiology at Phoenix Children's because of the organization's commitment to excellent care across all specialties. She is proud to be part of a strong team that collaborates to ensure every patient receives excellent care throughout their operative experience.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University in Stanford, California, Dr. Knight completed a certificate in pre-medical studies at Columbia University in New York, New York. She earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, completed her anesthesiology residency training at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, and completed her fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Knight is board certified in both anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, and the International Anesthesia Research Society.
Careers in medicine run in Dr. Knight's family as both of her parents are physicians in internal medicine and anesthesiology. She was drawn to medicine herself at the end of her undergraduate studies. Knowing that she wanted to work with kids and enjoyed the operating room environment, she chose pediatric anesthesiology early in her medical education. Dr. Knight aims to provide each child she cares for with a stress-free operation or procedure.
Dr. Knight enjoys adding stamps to her passport, stand-up paddleboarding, scuba diving, cooking and baking, as well as spending time with family and friends when she's not working.
