About Michelle M. Ratkiewicz, DO
As a specialist in pediatric pulmonology, Michelle "Mia" Ratkiewicz, DO, helps children and families navigate chronic breathing conditions. With a kind, compassionate and thorough approach to care, Dr. Ratkiewicz helps kids live lives full of happiness and hope. "I love helping kids to just be kids - play sports or go to the park without coughing and getting out of breath," Dr. Ratkiewicz says.
Dr. Ratkiewicz likes to think pulmonary medicine is in her genes. With both parents working as respiratory therapists, she learned about breathing complications from a young age. She spent summers volunteering at a camp for ventilator-dependent children. This experience later inspired her to help children with complex conditions do "normal kid activities."
While completing her residency at Phoenix Children's, Dr. Ratkiewicz fell in love with the energy and team atmosphere. Arizona's blue skies and sunshine also made it easier for the Michigan native to choose Phoenix Children's.
When she's not working, Dr. Ratkiewicz likes to travel, hike, take long dog walks and practice yoga. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as cooking and reading.

I am very happy with the providers and the way they explained everything to me and my child. Also how they explained the new medication and how they work. I am very pleased and I know my child will get better now
Very happy with the care my son is receiving for his asthma. Everyone is wonderful to us from the moment we arrive to the moment we leave. Everything is explained very well to my son and to me.
My twins boys are severely autistic and have a hard time with vitals and throat swabs. Lisa, the MA and Dr. Mia were absolutely amazing! They bought us a measuring board to take home for the boys to decorate so we can practice measuring their height. Lisa was so sweet to the boys and Dr. Mia was so patient with them, letting them play with her otoscope and stethoscope. Everyone, they are so understanding and patient with them. I absolutely love going to the CF clinic.
She was very nice and explained and answered all my questions
Dr. Mia is just the best! Kind, caring, and a joy to see every visit!
Dr. Mia is just the best! She is kind, caring, and a joy to visit with every quarter!
Very good first impression
Dr Mia and our RN were so great!! My son felt comfortable and all of our anxieties were eased.
Perfect care and all my questions were answered
Dr. Ratkiewicz is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She gives you the space to ask any and all questions and she provides answers that are thorough and thoughtful. My daughter threw up in the middle of our appointment and Dr. R immediately jumped in to help clean up and give a hand however we needed. Not all have that bed side manner but she does. Highly recommend.
For my son being 7 years old, he is a special severe case of asthma. He's had this problem since he was 11 months old for his first hospitalization. It was seven days. And I want to say we started seeing Michelle Ratkiewicz, Mia, since he was about a year and a half to two years old. And she is phenomenal at what she does. Definitely would love to keep her for as long as all of you need her. We love Mia.
Dr Mia and her team are amazing! Can't say enough good things about them!
Great doctor and staff!
I would like to express gratitude and appreciation to the Pulmonology Team. My daughter had been very ill and needed to reestablish care and was able to get in promptly. My daughters visit with Dr. Michelle Ratkiewicz was great, and she is amazing. Erik Medical Assistant was very friendly and pleasing. Thank you all so much for your close attention to detail and making me feel comfortable with my daughter care plan and easing all my concerns. The entire team was phenomenal.
