Neil Kanaiyalal Patel, MD, is an anesthesiologist specializing in pediatrics. As a Phoenix native, Dr. Patel is proud to serve and care for the community that supported him growing up. He appreciates the opportunity to care for patients and families in a leading institution that shares his mission and values.

Dr. Patel credits his parents for nurturing his interest in science. With their support, he followed his dreams, studying biochemistry in college in hopes of using his knowledge to improve the lives of others.

While earning his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Dr. Patel found his passion in anesthesiology. He first completed an internship in surgery and then an anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Patel also completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Patel is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia. During his residency, he received the Deena R. Liles, MD, Award for outstanding performance in obstetric anesthesiology and the Pediatric Anesthesia Award for outstanding performance in pediatric anesthesiology.

Understanding the importance of furthering his field through research and continuing education, Dr. Patel has presented at professional conferences and contributed to online professional publications.

When it comes to patient care, Dr. Patel believes in a collaborative, patient-centered approach. That means providing the quality care and compassion he would want for his loved ones. Knowing how hard it can be to deal with the uncertainty of an illness, Dr. Patel cares for his patients' and family's emotional needs too.

When he's not working, Dr. Patel and his wife enjoy exploring the Phoenix restaurant scene. He also enjoys reading fantasy and science fiction novels, playing games with friends and family and hiking Arizona mountain trails.
