Punam Patel, MD, is a pediatric otolaryngologist at Phoenix Children's with subspecialty training in otology. Dr. Patel provides patients with specialized care for the treatment of hearing loss, feeding difficulties, obstructive sleep apnea, cholesteatoma, vestibular and other complex disorders, in addition to providing cochlear implants.

Dr. Patel enjoys working with the diverse population served by Phoenix Children's and was drawn to the welcoming and supportive environment offered to both patients and clinicians.

Dr. Patel completed her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Boston University and earned her medical degree from Boston University Medical School, both in Boston. She completed her otolaryngology - head and neck surgery residency training at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and her fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at Nemours Children's Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

Board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. She has presented at conferences and annual meetings including the Society for Ear Nose and Throat Advancement in Children, as well as the American Academy of Otolaryngology National Meeting.

Dr. Patel knew from a young age that she wanted to work in an environment where she could help people feel better. She believes that caring for a child means caring for the entire family. While there are some diseases of the ear, nose and throat that many families might be familiar with, there are other complex diseases that are much less common, but treated at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Patel feels that thoughtfully explaining conditions and their treatments is one of the most important parts of any patient's visit. She finds that a collaborative approach with joint decision making often leads to the best patient outcomes.

In her spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with family, hiking and trying new restaurants.
