About Richard J. Wong, DO

Richard Wong, DO, is a pediatric pulmonologist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Wong treats a wide range of lung conditions that affect children of all ages, including asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and aerodigestive disorders. He also has a clinical interest in technology-dependent respiratory medicine.

Dr. Wong earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California at San Diego in San Diego and his medical degree from Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, Nevada. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a fellowship in pulmonology at the University of California at San Diego and Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.

Board certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Wong is a member of the American Thoracic Society and has presented case reports at the organization's annual meetings. In 2024, Dr. Wong was honored with an award from the Pediatric Pulmonary Training Directors Association.

Dr. Wong says his passion for pediatric pulmonology is due to his own personal experience with severe asthma. He strives to develop tailored treatment plans and medication regimens for each child with respiratory conditions to improve their symptoms and quality of life.

A native of Phoenix, Dr. Wong spends his free time watching action and comedy movies, cooking, golfing and playing video games.
