Ryan K. Johnson, MD, is a pediatric and fetal cardiologist specializing in diagnosing and treating heart problems in children. He sees patients at the Phoenix Children's Specialty clinic in Tucson.

Dr. Johnson first worked at Phoenix Children's in urgent care after his residency. As a new doctor, he loved the welcoming and supportive culture. After leaving to complete his fellowship, he was excited to return as a cardiologist. He values being part of a culture focused on teamwork and making Phoenix Children's the leading children's healthcare system in the Southwest.

Crediting his pediatrician as his inspiration to become a provider, Dr. Johnson's never forgotten how his doctor made him feel like he was the most important person in the room. Dr. Johnson tries to provide patients the same kindness, compassion and attention he received.

Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. After completing his pediatric residency at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson, Dr. Johnson completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City. He is certified in general pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics.

When it comes to patient care, Dr. Johnson makes communication a priority. He listens to patients and families, encouraging them to ask questions and be active in their care.

When he's not working, Dr. Johnson enjoys traveling with his wife, son and daughter, playing golf and mountain biking.
