As a pediatric nephrologist, Scott Shields Williams, MD, specializes in kidney care for children with chronic conditions. Dr. Williams approaches patient care with open, honest communication. He develops individualized treatment plans based on his patients' and families' needs.

The opportunity to care for children is what led Dr. Williams to specialize in kidney care. He liked that pediatric nephrology offered a combination of challenging work and serving kids with chronic conditions.

"Developing long-term relationships with kids and families is what I most enjoy about my work," Dr. Williams says.

Dr. Williams chose Phoenix Children's for the opportunity to work at an "excellent hospital" that draws children from throughout the Southwest.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Williams enjoys live music (especially brass bands) and reading.
