About Sheralyn K. Kaprolet, NNP
Sheralyn Kaprolet, NNP, found her calling while going on rounds with her father, a physician, when she was a little girl. Her favorite part of that time together was seeing all the tiny babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Even as a child, she was in awe of the babies' strength and knew she wanted to go into medicine to take care of these tiny infants.
"As a nursing student, I briefly thought about working in Labor and Delivery. But once the baby was born, I'd leave the mother's side and go care for the infant. I realized I needed to do what my heart and passion was pushing me to do - care for babies."
As an NNP, she takes a multidisciplinary and family-centered approach, working closely with the medical team, alongside each infant's parents, to determine a plan of care.
"I love experiencing the miracles each day - from a baby's first breath to the first time a mother holds her infant, to watching a baby go home after months in the NICU," Sheralyn says. "Each baby step is a miracle, and every one is just as important as the last."
Sheralyn, who is board certified in neonatology, enjoys working at Phoenix Children's, where she knows the tiniest babies get the most comprehensive care available and access to a full range of pediatric specialists if needed.
Outside of work, Sheralyn loves traveling with her husband and two children. They enjoy hiking, the beach and escaping to cooler weather when the summers hit 120 degrees in Arizona.
