Mission Statement

The mission of the Phoenix Children’s Allergy & Immunology Fellowship Program is to train compassionate, skilled allergists and immunologists who deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the lifespan. Fellows develop expertise through clinical care, interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching, quality improvement and research. Graduates are prepared to lead, educate others, innovate and expand access to specialized care, advancing outcomes for vulnerable populations and the broader community.

Program Description and Goals

Our program provides a supportive learning environment where fellows develop clinical expertise through exceptional and unique patient care experiences in pediatric and adult settings. Phoenix Children’s and Mayo Clinic Arizona have partnered together to offer shared resources to ensure a balanced, collaborative and broad training experience.

Through structured opportunities in teaching, research and quality improvement, fellows build the skills necessary to lead in academic medicine, clinical practice and healthcare systems.

We are committed to mentorship and career development, supporting fellows in pursuing their interests while fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation and lifelong growth.

Clinical Excellence & Patient-Centered Care

We train fellows to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with allergic and immunologic conditions across the lifespan. Fellows will:

  • Manage a diverse clinical spectrum in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Participate in longitudinal care, including transition from pediatric to adult care
  • Deliver care that is compassionate, culturally responsive and family-centered

Scholarship & Quality Improvement

We foster a culture of inquiry where fellows actively contribute to advancing the field through research and systems improvement. Fellows will:

  • Design and complete scholarly and quality improvement projects
  • Present findings at local and national meetings
  • Apply evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and care delivery

Education & Leadership Development

We prepare fellows to become effective educators and leaders in academic, clinical and community settings. Fellows will:

  • Teach medical students, residents and interdisciplinary teams
  • Develop skills in communication, feedback and team leadership
  • Take on defined leadership roles in clinical teams, educational activities or program initiatives

Health Equity & Access to Care

We are committed to improving access to high-quality, specialized care for underserved and vulnerable populations. Fellows will:

  • Work with diverse patient populations across varied clinical settings
  • Advocate for patients and system-level improvement to access
  • Identify and address gaps in care that impact underserved and vulnerable populations
