Recall what a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis entails and when/how to refer if suspicious of the disorder.
Identify the proposed pathophysiology, common comorbidities, and potential treatments of symptoms of ASD.
Identify 2-3 ways to better communicate with patients who have ASD.

Arvin Smith, MD is a first year Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. Dr Smith completed general psychiatry residency at University Hospitals Cleveland and is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Rutgers University, double majoring in Mathematics and Cell Biology & Neuroscience. Dr. Smith’s academic interests include adolescent depression and he is currently involved in research on biomarkers of depression. He has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at regional and national meetings.
