Natalie Larez, PhD is originally from a small border-town in Arizona, which informs her approach to clinical care and research. She completed her doctoral degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she primarily engaged in implementation and evaluation research in schools and community organizations focused on increasing mental health knowledge and reducing stigma. She then completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. In addition to her research and clinical work, Dr. Larez completed a four-year Health Policy Research Scholars fellowship through Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health which focused on skill-building for health equity policy advocacy. Currently, as a post-doctoral psychology resident at Phoenix Children’s, she primarily works with multidisciplinary clinic teams in Gastroenterology. Dr. Larez is dedicated to providing high quality care to marginalized and Spanish-speaking communities at the intersection of mental health and chronic illness. She is also especially interested in creating pathways and improving systems to support trainees from diverse backgrounds.
