At the end of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Define the ictal-interictal continuum (IIC) and its component EEG patterns using ACNS standardized terminology.
  • Recognize the incidence, clinical associations and seizure risk of IIC patterns in critically ill children.
  • Apply the 2HELPS2B score for seizure risk stratification in the pediatric ICU.
  • Develop a systematic approach to the evaluation and management of IIC patterns in children.

Sam Kamoroff, MD, MHA is a clinical neurophysiology fellow at Phoenix Children's. He completed his medical school at American University of Antigua and pediatric neurology residency at Mayo Clinic Florida. He also holds a Masters in Health Administration with a focus on Healthcare Operations.
His clinical interest includes EEG, epilepsy, pediatric stroke, neurocritical care and general child neurology. He will be joining a hospital-based adult neurology group in southwest Indiana to provide general pediatric neurology care to an underserved area.
