Janette Mailo, MD, is a child neurologist with Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s. She joined the neurocritical care team at Phoenix Children’s in July 2025, bringing extensive experience in neonatal and pediatric neurocritical care.
Prior to joining Phoenix Children’s, Dr. Mailo spent seven years at Stollery Children’s Hospital and the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. During her tenure, she served as a directing physician within the neonatal and pediatric neurocritical care program. She was a co-founder of the pediatric stroke program, developed as part of the neurocritical care service, and played a key role in advancing multidisciplinary care for critically ill neurologic patients. In collaboration with her neonatologist colleague, Dr. Mailo helped establish a neonatal neurocritical care fellowship program and successfully graduated two fellows before relocating to Phoenix.
Dr. Mailo completed advanced training in neonatal neurology, neurocritical care, and EEG at Western University in Ontario. She completed her pediatric neurology residency and earned her medical degree at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
Dr. Mailo’s clinical and academic interests focus on neonatal and pediatric neurocritical care, stroke, and EEG, with a strong commitment to education, program development, and collaborative care for children with complex neurologic conditions.
