At the end of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Develop a heightened awareness for radiographic signs that point to a specific diagnosis in acutely ill children
- Become familiar with the ramifications of making a delayed or incorrect diagnosis
- Understand why the incorrect diagnosis is made in most cases

About the presenter:
George S. Bisset III, MD
Clinical Professor of Radiology, LSU College of Medicine
George S. Bisset III, MD recently stepped down from his position as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, where he is currently working part-time as a pediatric radiologist. He is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor in Pediatrics at Tulane University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the Children’s Hospital he served as Radiologist-in-Chief at Texas Children’s Hospital. From 2013-2015, he also served as Interim Chair of Radiology at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Bisset, a Florida native, performed a pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the same institution. After practicing for several years at Tulane University, Dr. Bisset returned to Cincinnati to complete a radiology residency and a pediatric radiology fellowship. Dr. Bisset joined Duke in 1994 as Chief, Division of Pediatric Radiology and in 1995 became Vice-Chairman of the Department of Radiology. From 2009-2010, he served as Acting Chairman of the Radiology Department at Duke.
Dr. Bisset has authored over 175 publications and 21 book chapters, with primary interests focusing on CT and MRI of the pediatric chest and abdomen. He has held numerous academic appointments. He is also a Past-President of the Radiological Society of North America, which delivers the largest medical meeting in the world.
