Bethany Farretta is an Arizona native who was born and raised in Flagstaff. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Arizona in Tucson, her medical degree at the U of A in Phoenix, and pediatric residency here at Phoenix Children's. She further specialized in the care of hospitalized children through the Hospitalist fellowship program here and will complete her training in June 2025. After fellowship, she will be joining the Hospitalist Division here at Phoenix Children's in July.

 


 

At the end of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Describe infants under 12 months old admitted for malnutrition (or failure to thrive) and identify patient/hospital characteristics associated with readmission
  • Compare associated of readmission for infants with malnutrition meeting different in-hospital daily weight gain targets

Dr. Emily Manion completed her residency training at Phoenix Children's and continued on for her fellowship here in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Her interests include pediatric nutrition, medical education and curriculum development. After graduation, she will be starting her new faculty position at Vanderbilt University this fall.

  • Examine perceived needs and barriers to provision of advocacy curricula for PHM fellows among program leaders
  • Evaluate association of program characteristics with perceived needs/barriers in design and implementation of advocacy curricula
