Pediatric Burn Injuries: Clinical Lessons Through Case Studies

At the end of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Perform rapid, age-appropriate assessment of pediatric burn injuries, including TBSA estimation and burn dept classification
  • Initiate evidence-based acute management of pediatric burns, including airway assessment, fluid resuscitation, analgesia, and wound care
  • Identify indications for burn center referral and initiate timely transfer when appropriate
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to concerns for non-accidental injury, including mandatory reporting
  • Utilize institutional and regional burn care resources effectively, including burn centers and referral networks
