At Phoenix Children’s, our mission is simple yet powerful: to advance hope, healing and the best healthcare for children and their families. Our Simulation Center brings that mission to life by helping care teams build the skills and confidence they need to improve safety and deliver high-quality care before it’s needed at the bedside.

About the Center

The Phoenix Children’s Simulation Center is a state-of-the-art training facility designed to transform pediatric education through immersive, hands-on learning. Located in the East Tower at Phoenix Children’s Thomas Campus, the center provides a realistic environment where care teams can practice high-risk, low-frequency scenarios before they happen — helping improve readiness, teamwork and patient safety for the children we serve.

Key Features:

  • Five dedicated simulation suites, including two bays outfitted for high-acuity pediatric and neonatal scenarios in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Advanced audiovisual system (SIMStation) for real-time monitoring, recording and debriefing
  • Flexible learning spaces, including classrooms and debriefing rooms
  • High-fidelity manikins and task trainers across the pediatric lifespan, plus specialized equipment for airway management, intravenous (IV) and intraosseous (IO) access, chest tubes, tracheostomy and more

To advance knowledge, enhance competence and prepare pediatric clinical leaders to confidently deliver the highest quality care and safest patient outcomes.

To serve as a multidisciplinary Center of Excellence for pediatric simulation, incorporating innovative strategies and technology to improve education, research and patient safety.

Simulation in Action

Our programs cover a wide range of pediatric and neonatal care scenarios, such as:

  • Emergency response and resuscitation
  • Trauma care and airway management
  • Seizure management and respiratory distress
  • Critical care and ICU management

Instructor-led sessions use advanced manikins programmed to replicate real-life medical conditions. Each simulation is followed by structured debriefing, allowing participants to reflect, receive feedback, and strengthen teamwork and clinical skills.

Who We Serve

We support a broad community of learners and partners dedicated to advancing pediatric care, including:

  • Nurses, physicians, residents and fellows
  • Respiratory therapists, pharmacists and allied health professionals
  • Academic and nursing programs
  • Community partners and donors who support pediatric workforce development

Why It Matters

Simulation-based training improves patient safety, reduces errors and builds confidence in high-stakes situations. These efforts help ensure children and families receive the safest care possible — at times when it matters most. By investing in this innovative approach, Phoenix Children’s is shaping the future of pediatric care.
